Our names are Linda & Steve Remák. We have a daughter Daniela. Before having Salukis we both had dogs (Linda had a poodle for 15 years and Steve a mops for 13 years). We both liked sighthounds very much, but we could "afford" to keep them after moving into a house with garden.
The name of our kennel is Arshan, which in translation means "strong and courageous" and thus called the place where healing mineral fountain springs out from the earth.
History:
The first Saluki is a sable colored female Erela Naomi HADI el BASHER - "Naomi". Naomi comes from excellent Belgian kennel HADI el BASHER. Naomi was our first Saluki, which we owe the fact that we discovered the magic world of Salukis fully and completely, and we both fell in love with them. Naomi is a very intelligent dog, capable of self-opening doors and windows or switching the lights on. Sometimes we even feel that when we are speaking with each other, she can understand us. She is friendly to dogs, people, she is extremely obedient. Naomi is very careful and very sociable also in relation to children, and because of that reason she visited children in the kindergarten, which our Daniela is visiting, and why it was hard for all children say her „Goodbye“. She is an excellent hunter, very skillful, and many times we found in our living room a caught sparrow or mouse. She performs her thankfully and very easy and for this feature she is also popular among young handlers, who borrowed her a few times for junior handling and they were placed among the first places. Naomi in her exhibition career also reached the following achievements: Champion of Slovakia and Hungary, the Winner for Beauty and performance in two consecutive years 2008 and 2009, as well Coursing winner of year 2009. Naomi also won a title The most beautiful champion among 50 champion dogs exhibition in Hungary. Naomi gave our A-litter in summer 2010 - 5 girls and 3 boys. They all are very lovely and very promising. One of Naomi´s soons ended as BIS-1 Puppy on his 2-nd show!
The second Saluki is a black and silver female Aziz Extera - "Teri". Teri comes from the successful Finnish kennel AZIZ - Saluki Breeder of the Year, a title that has been given to AZIZ in a large Finnish competition for more consecutive years. Teri has exceptionally cuddly nature and is looking very happy in our arms. She likes to accompany us at home and when we sit down, she sits down immediately to us and intently looking at us, to notice her and caress her. Terinka is just wherever we are, she is our "Sweetie". Teri is currently still a young lady and is now at an age when she is very wild and haggard. She loves running, jumping, and some of her pieces are really stunt performance, which will make us close our eyes. She is a very good house-guardian, very quickly observes "guests" at our house and she starts barking to the moment while someone remain at our house. Teri is also the cleenest and most polite saluki we have heard about so far. From the age of 4-th months in this regard she makes a great joy, never surprised us abandoning her "brand" and our home was destroyed not at all, nor any of our belongings, as the Salukis often do. Teri is in her 2 years Champion of Hungary, Czech Junior Champion, she was nominated for Crufts 2 times, 5 times she won as the most beautiful representative of the breed, she also won The Best in group and The second Best in group titles, etc.. Teri in 2009 received her coursing license and we hope that she will make full use of it and she will enjoy running together with Naomi.
The third Saluki is a sable female AZIZ Inas – "Hiiri". Hiiri comes from Aziz, as Teri. It would be easy to say that we are „Aziz positive“ and we love Stina´s dogs very much, so we have a next addition to our family. Is it so, but this story has a "deeper" background, too. Father of our Hiiri – Aziz Cane Zadan – is a Saluki whom we both fell in love at first sight, immediately we had seen the first pics of him. Stories of his owner Sirpa, photos, videos and multi-functionality of this Saluki – a talent for sports and amazing show results – we watched every day... In other words we are both "Potter fans", so we decided to apply for one of his puppy. The word gave the word, and we were waiting and finally it was worth of it! In spring 2010 puppies were born after this beautiful dog, and between them our little mouse Hiiri. Lot of thanks to Stina for all her patience and that she allowed us to fulfill our great dream, because Salukis belong to our lives and Hiiri not just fulfilled our days with happiness with her playfulness, but she also helped us to come closer to an ideal Saluki, and we can enjoy Potter at home throughout her. Hiiri is a hilarious ball, constantly in motion, and we call her Speedy because of it, too. She is lively, playful, courageous, stubborn and sweet and at the same time she is our monster bullying the rest of our Salukis. Hiiri can capture the hearts of all our dogs with beautiful sight, and immediately chase them away with her stamina when she bites their ears, she is constantly chasing them with her toys, or just by the reason that simply it is impossible for any dog nearby her to sleep longer than 5 minutes... But try to see in her eyes, who would resist?...
Our fourth Saluki is our puppy from A-litter. Arshan Amber - "Amber" is our big love at first sight of the litter. She is friendly and very curious with lot of energy. Amber is growing up to an elegant saluki lady with really beautiful movement. We are hoping, that she will show her potential in the show ring this year.
Our fifth dog is black dwarf poodle female Unique Bohemia Timothy - "Sasha". She is very cute little girl, very inteligent and smart :) We are very glad, that we have a poodle back after more than 10 years.
CO-OWNED DOGS:
The first Saluki in co-ownership is a cream male DADAELIS T´Ku Khair of Arhsan – "Khair". Khair comes from classic Saluki lines from USA and whom we all love. The breeder Marilyn Brown is a publisher of the magazine "The Classic Saluki" - The Saluki breed publication (http://www.classicsaluki.com). Khair has been since his arrival very calm and a little bit stoic boy. Since the beginning he was very clean and very smart and sensitive. The wild running was not for him, he rather slept and just when he already had to go outside, he run for a while in the garden. He was – as we called him – a „young pensioner“. Khair never destroyed anything, never did anything wrong, besides one scraped hole on one of our walls in living room, because he was bored. And it is somehow still kept in his portfolio – digging holes in the garden and catching birds or watching TV is his passion. Khair is a very sensitive, familiar, gentle and very smart dog. When something happened at home, Khair was just the sweet good boy, who came to us to show it, or who was always innocently watching when our girls were eating our dinner, or when Naomi was chewing the curtain... What to say more – Khair is simply little angel! Khair lives with Andrea, her boyfriend and her dogs in Hungary.
The second one is red sable male Arshan Ansel "Ansel". Ansel is funny boy with a very lovely temperament, he is our little clown. Ansel was all time our favorite puppy boy and finally we left him in co-ownership for our future plans. He is living with Kristina, her family and their cats in Hungary.
The third Saluki is cream boy Fan Fell Abadiya "Zeki". He is living with Ansel, cats, Kristina and her family in Hungary.
